Kamnik: Going to the house Stele to get Plečnik’s candles

The famous architect Jože Plečnik often visited candlemaker Janko Stele. For his house, one of the oldest in medieval Kamnik, he designed the furnishings of dining nook, and for his business, he designed relief candles in a special way, combining the art of candle making and licitar making.

When visiting the Stele House, you can try your hand at drawing Plečnik candles and making candles from honeycombs. Visitors can become real candlemakers here for a day! Since the Stele House also houses one of the oldest and one of five still operating black kitchens in Slovenia, you can also arrange a bread baking workshop. What you create, you take with you as a souvenir!
